Explore mixing history with natural beauty makes the best adventure. Cumberland Gap tucked in where Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee meet offers both. Employment
Do you have a passion for the outdoors and a spirit for sharing it with others? Do you have a sixth sense about you to anticipate customer needs? Do you have a desire to exceed customer expectations? These are just a few of the attributes we strive for at Green Earth Outdoors.
As the business grows so does our need for great people who want to make a difference. Our needs vary season to season but generally include additional trip leaders and guides, program facilitators/instructors, chefs, as well as help in the office and the shop (warehouse). Positions may be seasonal, on contract, part-time or full time. Education, experience and certification requirements are unique to each position. All positions require at least a high school diploma, valid driver’s license with no traffic violations or at-fault accidents in the past seven years, a clean background check, a negative results drug test, and positive references.
We have opportunities for trip leaders/guides and instructors who are experienced with backpacking, canoeing or climbing for adventure travel trips, day trips, and outdoor training sessions. At a minimum, applicants should have current certifications in Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder (preferred); CPR/AED for Adult and Child; and Leave No Trace Trainer or Master Educator. Other outdoor certifications from the Wilderness Education Association (National Standard Program, Professional Short Course, and Outdoor Leadership Certification), National Outdoor Leadership School, American Canoe Association, or American Mountain Guides Association enhance employment potential.
We also seek outdoor enthusiasts with culinary training and experience to provide food services for our frontcountry adventures. Applicants should be able to plan menus for a variety of dietary needs, procure ingredients, prepare and cleanup meals for both small and large groups using a field kitchen.
Opportunities are also available for individuals with office and warehouse leadership experience to assist with ongoing operational and administrative duties. Intern positions may be available seasonally or year around and generally includes exposure to all areas of the business. Applicants for these three areas should be reasonably proficient using Microsoft Office applications, along with accurate and efficient data entry skills. Having working knowledge of Intuit QuickBooks and/or Adobe Dreamweaver a plus. Although outdoor experience isn’t required for these positions, applicants should have an understanding and appreciation for outdoor adventure travel because all GEO employees and contractors interact with customers and must personally value the services we provide.
If you possess a passion for our mission, Green Earth Outdoors is potentially interested in working with you.
