Explore mixing history with natural beauty makes the best adventure. Cumberland Gap tucked in where Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee meet offers both. Follow the Wilderness Road as Daniel Boone did in 1775 and hike along forested ridges with spectacular panoramic views. A great trip for all but especially suited for families and youth groups.

The Explore ▪ Discover ▪ Share Weekend is an overnight campout that introduces families to the natural world. Children and their parent(s) learn the basic skills necessary for exploring and enjoying the outdoors with confidence and enthusiasm. The content for this adventure-filled weekend is presented in an exciting hands-on format with fun group activities.
Children and their parent(s) will spend the day learning outdoors skills such as hiking basics, campsite selection, trail etiquette, outdoor cooking, useful knots, navigation, plant and tree identification, simple first aid, and Leave No Trace principles. Meals will be provided and everyone can help with the preparation. After a full day of activities the group will gather around the campfire for fellowship and the opportunity to learn about the nighttime sky. Weekend locations are chosen that feature scenic campsite locations and restroom facilities.
WHO: Families who want to learn more about the outdoors or those families who are just beginning and want to sharpen their outdoors skills in a fun and friendly environment. The minimum age for this program is 5. Parents must accompany children at all times during the program.
