Daily Itinerary

Night before: Since we will meet at 8:30am on Day 1, you may choose to arrive in Louisville, KY the night before the trip begins.

Day 1: We meet at 8:30am (location to be determined based on participants flight/hotel arrangements).  After meeting with your guide(s), we will travel to Marengo Cave National Landmark, described as one of the most beautiful show caves in the eastern United States. At the cave we enjoy a 2-hour walking tour followed by a picnic lunch. After lunch we make our way to the trailhead where we begin a two night backpack trip through the hardwoods of Hoosier National Forest. Our hike is relatively easy (less than 5 miles) and we enjoy our first evening lakeside with incredible views of the sunset.

Day 2: After breakfast, we continue our hiking journey through hardwood forest, with more scenery and incredible views of the rolling Indiana hillsides and crystal clear lakes, covering five to eight miles.

Day 3: Today, we pack up after a hearty breakfast and finish our hike back to our awaiting shuttle. A joyful ride through the beautiful countryside and a picnic lunch makes the drive to the Harrison-Crawford State Forest go by quickly. In the afternoon, we visit the Nature Center and/or go for a swim, before making camp where we can enjoy a hearty Dutch oven meal, fellowship and riverside camping.

Day 4: Today is full of excitement as we head down the Blue River, Indiana best paddling venue, for an all-day canoeing trip with a riverside picnic lunch. Plan on getting wet during our ride on the spring fed Blue River which offers exciting ripples, scenic cliffs, wildlife, and solitude. Tonight we camp riverside and spend the evening sharing stories of the day.

Day 5: After a hearty breakfast, we pack up our canoes and paddle the last leg of our trip where our shuttle awaits. We catch scenic views of the Ohio River on our return and finish the trip in style with an old fashioned lunch and ice cream stop in historic Leavenworth, Indiana. After lunch, we return back to Louisville for travel home.

Upon registration, a $100 deposit is required to hold your spot with final payment due 30 days prior to departure. All trips are subject to an overall minimum group size.
