Get up close with nature and visit our exciting new retail destination and outdoor training center opening this spring. Located on four wooded acres just minutes from downtown Louisville in Southern Indiana, this multi-purpose facility will provide the perfect setting to shop, relax, plan your next outing and enjoy nature. The shop will sell outdoor gear and apparel for camping, hiking, backpacking, paddling and travel from top manufacturers including Lowa, Jetboil, Mountain Hardwear and Mountainsmith, as well as local and regional organizations.
The new facility, renovated almost entirely from reused, repurposed and recycled materials, will also offer trips, outdoor skill trainings, and an onsite adventure and environmental reference library.
Leave No Trace Trainer Course
The Trainer Course is a vital component of the nationwide Leave No Trace program. Participants receive introductory training in Leave No Trace skills and ethics in a condensed two-day format. The Trainer Course assists the student participants in learning more about the seven principles of Leave No Trace and techniques for disseminating these low impact skills.

COST: $65.00 per person. The fee covers all food, snacks and beverages, group equipment, camp fees, training equipment, training materials, a LNT Trainer’s Kit (which includes a full set of LNT Reference Cards, Posters, Trainer lapel pin, Trainer patch, LNT stickers, some Leave No Trace gear, Skill and Ethics Booklet, pocket guides, videos, training activities, and a flash drive of LNT Resources), certificate, and extensive educational support to conduct your own Leave No Trace Awareness Workshops.
Scholarships are available for eligible youth members of organizations that promote and practice Leave No Trace (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls, etc.).

WHERE: Aldo Leopold Center in Baraboo, Wisconsin
(15 minutes southeast of Wisconsin Dells; 2 hours northwest of Milwaukee WI; 1 four north of Madison WI)
INTRODUCTION: Green Earth Outdoors (greenearthoutdoors.com) in partnership with the Aldo Leopold Foundation (aldoleopold.org) join together to offer a unique experience for outdoor enthusiasts and those who embrace land ethics principles. Green Earth Outdoors, a longtime partner and training provider of the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics (www.lnt.org), will offer a Leave No Trace Trainer Course on the grounds of the Aldo Leopold Center and Aldo Leopold family farm in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Aldo Leopold was a conservationist, forester, philosopher, educator, writer, and outdoor enthusiast and is considered by many as the father of wildlife management and of the United States’ wilderness system and the idea of land ethics.
COST: $125.00 per person. The fee includes all food, snacks and beverages, group equipment, camp fees, training equipment, training materials, a LNT Trainer’s Kit, some Leave No Trace gear, videos, training activities, and a flash drive of LNT Resources), certificate, extensive educational support to conduct your own Leave No Trace Awareness Workshops and year membership to the Aldo Leopold Foundation.
DESCRIPTION: This course will allow participants to learn and practice in an outdoor setting the Principles of Leave No Trace and prepare individuals to act as Leave No Trace-recognized Trainers from Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor EthicThe training includes 16 hours of hands-on instruction and overnight camping. The first night camping (Friday) will be conducted in a frontcountry setting impacted site and the second night camping (Saturday) will be conducted in a pristine backcountry setting. Participants will need to hike a short distance to the backcountry site.
As part of the Trainer Course curriculum, participants will also be required to lead a 10-15 minute discussion or presentation on one of the Leave No Trace principles or other impact topic. Further details and resources will be provided upon registration. These courses are presented by Green Earth Outdoors, an affiliated partner and approved training provider for the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics and the Lincoln Heritage Council, BSA.
GEAR: Participants need to bring their own personal camping equipment (a list is provided upon registration). If you don’t have your own, we have rental gear available and will extend a 50% discount for participants. View Rental Gear options or call 502-475-7445 for details.
COURSE TIMES: The course begins with registration and camp set up at 6:00pm on Friday with the program starting at 7:00pm. The course will conclude by 12:00pm on Sunday.
WHO: Any individual adult or youth at least age 14 interested in learning and practicing the 7 Principles Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics and teaching them to others or general outdoor enthusiasts who want to learn the skills needed to minimize their recreational impacts. Typical attendees include backpackers, paddlers, Scouts, Venturers, Scout leaders, camp counselors, guides, outdoor groups/clubs, specialty outdoor retail associates and trip leaders. Every Scouting unit, outdoor organization or club should have at least one Leave No Trace Trainer. Open to the public.
Green Earth Outdoors volunteers their time and resources to provide this course.
YOUTH MEMBERS: To support the addition of Leave No Trace elements to the Boy Scouts of America (this Trainer Course is required for Boy Scouts who have been appointed to the Position of Responsibility of Leave No Trace Trainer) and Girl Scouts of the USA program, youth (at least age 14) are encouraged to attend. A parent or registered adult Scouter(s) who is trained and complies with their respective program’s youth protection policies should attend with the youth.
