West Virginia Highlands, West Virginia
The beautiful mountains of West Virginia offer a unique setting for enjoying a multitude of outdoor activities. From the mountain splendor of the Monongahela to the raging excitement of the New River Gorge, our West Virginia Highlands multi-sport trip combines the best that West Virginia offers. We begin with a three-day hiking trip highlighting cool mountain streams and incredible panoramic views of high forested ridges, including a visit to the state’s highest point. Next, were off to the New River Gorge where we enjoy a full day of white water rafting on the New River and finish the week with an option of either a scenic mountain-bike trip or a treetop canopy and zip-line tour. Other treats are sprinkled in along the way. Minimum age for this trip is 8. This trip begins and ends in Charleston, West Virginia.

Daily Itinerary
Night before: Since we will meet at 9:00am on Day 1, you may choose to arrive in Charleston, West Virginia the night before the trip begins.
Day 1: Meet in Charleston, West Virginia at 9:00am at the Residence Inn near Yeager Airport. After meeting with your guide(s) we will review the day’s activities and then begin traveling to Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area, with a picnic lunch enroute. In the afternoon, we visit the Seneca Rocks Discovery Center with overnight camping nearby.
Day 2: After breakfast, we will review personal gear, sort group gear, pack up and head to our trailhead. First, we will make a stop at the highest point in West Virginia, Spruce Knob, and look over the beautiful mountains that stretch across the state. We then travel to our trailhead for the hiking portion of our trip. Our actual backpacking destination will vary depending on recent weather and trail conditions, the ambition the ambition of the group. Our hike today is scenic and easy, about 5 miles, with our overnight camp in earshot of a gentle mountain stream.
Day 3: Today we continue our hiking journey with more scenery and incredible views of the West Virginia highlands and waterfalls, through hardwood forest, covering five to eight miles.
Day 4: After breakfast, we pack up and finish our hike back to our awaiting shuttle. A joyful ride through the beautiful countryside and a picnic lunch makes the drive to the New River Gorge go by quickly. In the afternoon, we visit the New River Gorge Visitor’s Center before making camp where we can enjoy swimming, a hearty meal, hot showers and fellowship.
Day 5: Today is full of excitement as we head down to the New River for an all-day whitewater rafting trip with a riverside picnic lunch. Plan on getting wet on this all-natural intense ride through the beautiful heart of West Virginia. We spend the evening sharing stories of thrills and chills of the day.
Day 6: After a hearty breakfast, we gear up for either a tree top canopy zip-line tour (must be age 10) or a recreational mountain bike ride through the local scenic hills. Both activities offer a different perspective of the natural beauty of the New River Gorge. After lunch, we break camp and return to Charleston for travel home.
Upon registration, a $200 deposit is required to hold your spot with final payment due 30 days prior to departure. All trips are subject to an overall minimum group size.
